Effective date: August 20, 2026 · Last updated: August 20, 2026

Vidyasvam Adhyayanam LLP ("Vidyasvam", "we", "us", or "our") operates the website vidyasvam.com and offers educational programs, publications, and related services in the study of Saṃskṛta and Indian knowledge systems.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect from learners, visitors, and program participants, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your information. By using our website or enrolling in a program, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Information you provide directly. Name, email address, phone number, city or country, age group (for children's programs), and any background you share when you register for a program, contact us, or fill in a form on the website.
  • Payment information. When you enroll in a paid program, payment is processed by our payment partner (Razorpay). Vidyasvam receives a confirmation of the transaction (invoice number, amount, payment ID) but does not store your card, UPI, or bank account details.
  • Automatically collected data. Standard web-server logs (IP address, browser type, pages viewed, time of visit) collected for security and analytics.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. Only strictly necessary cookies for site functionality. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
  • Communications with us. If you email or WhatsApp us, we retain the correspondence for support and record-keeping.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Deliver the programs and services you registered for
  • Send program-related communications (schedule, materials, updates)
  • Issue invoices, receipts, and completion certificates
  • Respond to your questions and provide support
  • Improve our teaching materials and website
  • Send occasional updates about new programs, only if you have opted in
  • Comply with legal and tax obligations under Indian law

3. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data on the following bases: performance of a contract (delivering the program you registered for), your consent (for optional communications), our legitimate interest (running the organization and improving our services), and compliance with legal obligations (invoicing, tax records).

4. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these limited cases:

  • Service providers we rely on to operate, including our payment gateway (Razorpay), email hosting (Google Workspace), website hosting (Vercel), and video-conferencing platforms for online classes. These providers are bound by their own privacy commitments.
  • Academic and certification partners such as IIT Bombay Sanskrit Cell (CSL) — only what is necessary to issue certificates you have specifically opted into.
  • Legal or regulatory authorities when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of Vidyasvam, our participants, or the public.

5. Data Retention

We keep your personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected — typically for the duration of your active engagement with Vidyasvam plus the period required for legal, tax, and audit obligations (currently up to eight years under Indian law). Certificates and academic records may be retained longer as a permanent record.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information: encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the website, restricted access to internal systems, secure credential storage, and regular reviews of our third-party providers. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to minimize risk.

7. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law (including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct any inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Request deletion of your information (subject to our legal retention obligations)
  • Withdraw consent for optional communications at any time
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority in your jurisdiction

To exercise any of these rights, please email us at info@vidyasvam.in from the email address associated with your account. We will respond within a reasonable time and, where legally required, within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

Some of our programs (including the Samskrita Karyashala for school children aged 10–16) are offered to minors. We collect information about a minor only with the verifiable consent of a parent or legal guardian, who registers the child. Parents may request to review or delete the child's information at any time by contacting us at the email above.

9. Cookies

Our website uses only cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to function correctly (for example, remembering your session while browsing). We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. You can disable all cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as expected.

10. International Users

Vidyasvam is based in India. If you access our website or enroll from outside India, please be aware that your information is transferred to and processed in India, which may have data-protection laws different from those in your country. By using our services, you consent to this transfer.

11. Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to external sites (for example, YouTube for testimonial videos or partner organizations). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Please review their privacy policies directly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in applicable law. When we make material changes, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify registered participants by email.
